New Delhi: The Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE) and the National Test House (NTH) have announced a partnership aimed at strengthening the Standards and Labeling (S & L) Program. This initiative has been introduced to promote energy efficiency across the country. According to the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed, the joint efforts of both these organizations will focus on bolstering the accuracy, reliability, and compliance of energy performance standards, ensuring that Indian consumers make informed choices.
The particulars of the MoU are as follows:Â
BEE will utilize NTH’s testing facilities to ensure that energy appliances comply with stringent energy performance standards.
NTH officials will provide their technical expertise to BEE’s technical committees by participating in testing processes
NTH will conduct technical capacity-building training for BEE officers.
NTH will provide resolutions for technical disputes related to test results.
The organizations will ensure the accuracy of star labels and design mechanisms to prevent their misuse by manufacturers.
This collaboration will help provide consumers with accurate and reliable information about the energy efficiency of appliances they use, thereby encouraging them to make smarter and more sustainable choices. It aligns with India’s energy efficiency goals and the nation’s broader objectives of reducing energy consumption and carbon emissions.
