Bengaluru: Swiggy has entered the services marketplace segment with the launch of a new app, Pyng Professional. Available on both Google Play Store and Apple’s App Store, the app enables professionals such as nutritionists, yoga instructors, life coaches, and designers to list and manage their services on the platform.
Pyng Professional is described as a comprehensive tool for professionals to manage their businesses. It provides a host of features aimed at simplifying operations for service providers:
A dashboard to view, accept, and track orders, including consultations, digital product sales, and webinar bookings.
Tools to schedule offerings, set availability, update pricing, and manage bookings.
A payout tracker to help professionals monitor earnings.
Swiggy’s Expansion Beyond Food Delivery
This launch comes months after reports suggested that Swiggy was piloting a services marketplace under the brand name ‘Yello’, aimed at connecting users with professionals like lawyers, astrologers, and dieticians. Pyng Professional appears to be a realization of that vision.
The food tech company has been on an innovation spree in recent months. It launched SNACC, an app delivering food in 15 minutes, and Swiggy Bolt, which offers quick-to-prepare dishes in 10 minutes. In the events space, Swiggy Scenes was introduced to let users book parties and events at partner restaurants. Additionally, the company debuted its premium invite-only membership program, ‘One BLCK’, and began assisting restaurant partners in sourcing kitchen equipment.
Rising Competition from Rivals
These developments come amidst increasing competition in the foodtech and quick commerce sectors. Swiggy’s rivals, Zomato and Zepto, each raised over $1 billion last year to strengthen their services. Swiggy’s diversification strategy highlights its intent to stay ahead in a competitive market.
