A Chinese company came under fire after one of its workers said they were given vouchers rather than cash for their salary. In addition to drawing a lot of criticism, the employee’s social media post led to an official investigation of the company.
The South China Morning Post (SCMP) claims that the shopping center gave out vouchers in varying quantities to its staff, informing them that they could use them to purchase a variety of goods, primarily clothing and food. The coupons, which range in value from $1.4 to $70, are said to have no monetary value and cannot be used to pay for other goods.
According to the employee, each voucher, like cash, has a unique number. The employees are expected to assist them in buying the things they desire.
The employees were allegedly told by the corporation that they could use the vouchers to pay property management costs and purchase certain group-owned properties and parking at a reduced cost. However, a mall employee informed Chinese Business View that they are primarily suitable for dining establishments and apparel retailers. Additionally, customers do not receive their money back if the amount they paid for an item is less than the voucher’s worth.
People were immediately outraged by the share, and several called the firm “inhuman.” “Since when can a company issue its own currency?” someone wrote. They ought to receive harsh punishment.
