Kolkata: West Bengal has completed 100 per cent connection of electronic weighing machines with e-POS machines across all ration shops in the state.
All 21,105 ration shops across the state now have these electronic weighing machines connected with their e-POS.
According to the Ministry of Food Processing Industries, 10 states, including West Bengal, have completed this exercise to bring transparency to the PDS system.
Other states like Odisha, Rajasthan, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and Punjab, among others, have completed 100 per cent execution.
Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand and Tamil Nadu have nearly completed this connection.
However, there are 21 states, including Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, Delhi, Haryana, Maharashtra, Assam, Goa and Arunachal Pradesh, that have hardly done 1 per cent of this connection.
This connection enhances transparency. Only when a ration dealer packs the exact weight of the stuff will the receipt be generated from the e-POS.
Most shops already had e-POS machines, but there was still the scope of under weighing thr goods. This new connection system stops that completely.
All dealers will be henceforth provided a commission of Rs 21 per quintal for connecting the electronic weighing machines with the e-POS.
