New Delhi: The Centre has initiated a comprehensive business process reengineering exercise aimed at transforming India Post into a more digitally driven and service-oriented organisation, Union Communications Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia informed the Lok Sabha on 10 December.
Responding during Question Hour, Scindia highlighted the scale of India Post’s operations, noting that its network now spans 1.64 lakh post offices nationwide. He said the government has made consistent efforts over the past 11 years to expand and strengthen this network, especially in rural and remote regions.
According to the Minister, the upcoming overhaul will focus on enhancing service delivery through increased automation and modernised processes.
“We are in the process of bringing a full business process reengineering exercise for India Post by which our delivery will become much more prompt, service-oriented and digital-oriented for the citizens,” he said.
Scindia added that the postal department will adopt best-in-class automation technologies to improve efficiency and customer experience. With these reforms, he said, the government aims to position India Post as a leading logistics carrier globally, capable of meeting rising demands in e-commerce, parcel delivery and digital communication services.
