Kolkata: The West Bengal Higher Education Department is starting a new portal today introduce new courses and new subjects in colleges.
According to Education Minister Bratya Basu, the new portal subject affiliation.wb.gov.in will be launched tomorrow at 10 am.
Both government and private colleges can apply for new courses involving new subjects through this portal.
This will help many colleges that have not been able to start new courses for a very long time.
Especially courses based on subjects that are more industry-oriented and relevant can now be started by most colleges.
However, the colleges also hope the Education Department will approve these courses in quick time.
This, in turn, will help the colleges across the state fill up almost 9.5 lakh vacant seats.
Without industry-oriented courses, the colleges are finding it difficult to even fill half of these seats.
