Hyderabad: “In ayurvedic science, we can create new molecule to deal with certain medical conditions with focused approach which other medical practices aren’t doing. Combinations of certain herbs and medicines will have a specific target approach to deal with diseases effectively in the Ayurvedic science,” stated Dr. Nori G Pradeep, Ayurvedic Specialist & Nutritionist at a a CME workshop on ‘Ayurveda for Low Back Ache and Neuralgia’ held in Hyderabad recently.

Explaining about the effectiveness of Ayurveda, he said Ayurvedic medical system could create a medicinal mixture that dealt with the pandemic effectively within a month’s time. Even in earlier times when Chikunguniya was prevalent, the Ayurvedic doctors in Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and other states effectively dealt with at least 20 cases each day and could get best results.

The workshop CME workshop, which was presented by Guna Ayurveda, Hyderabad and powered by Zandu Ayurveda Products was attended by several Ayurvedic medical practitioners.

Dr. Kishore, MD (Panchakarma), Panchakarma Specialist, Guna Ayurveda, Hyderabad delivered a technical talk on ‘Nitty Gritty of Kati Shoola(Low Back Ache) and its Management’, Dr Kishore underlined that the Lower back pain can be classified into mechanical and non-mechanical back pain.

Mechanical lower back pain involves structural body part including muscles, bone, disc, nerves while non-mechanical back pain is caused if an individual is overweight, or is osteoporotic, or has obesity conditions or tumors which could be compressing lower back.

“It’s a medical condition where an individual suffers from it at least once a year. 50 per cent of working population suffer or experience low back pain at least once in a month.1 out of every 45 people are suffering from lower back pain. It is the second most common cause for an individual to visit a physician after common cold in India.

It’s a symptom and medical condition and not a disease. It would ease with proper activity and rest and would majorly depend on an individual to recover from such symptoms.

Most of the structures involved in lower back pain are avascular, where the blood circulation is poor.

In Ayurvedic Panchakarma treatment due to osmosis and diffusion process, the nutrition reaches the degenerated structure, giving wonderful results. One of the main causes for lower backpain in middle and elder age group is stress where anti-psychotic and anti-relaxing medicines isn’t used. In panchakarma treatment, a lot of melatonin hormone secretion takes place in the body which will work as a relief booster in the lower back pain.

Be active, keep moving, practice to be in the correct body posture while sleeping, sitting, standing and working in the office which can prevent maximum of lower back pain conditions. Also, have proper nutritious food and avoid overeating.

The Ayurvedic Approach for the Suicidal Trigeminal Neuralgia

Dr. Vamshidhar Allam, Consultant Ayurvedic Specialist

Dr Vamsidhar said that it is not a disease but a medical condition and every 4-8 individuals in a lakh population suffer from it. The frequency of the TN symptoms varies with causation and also with the age. In the initial stage of these conditions, the intensity is severe but the frequency is less. As the age of the patient progresses and the condition becomes chronic, the intensity will be same but the intervals between the episodes become less. Which means the symptomatic episodes becomes frequent.

The treatment for TN in Ayurveda is promising and much better than any other medicinal systems based on the pathological studies. The treatment approach in Ayurveda is mainly of two type – oral medication and panchakarma treatment. Panchakarma is taken up based on the condition of the patient.
