New Delhi: The University Grants Commission (UGC) has established two Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs) in Arctic and Polar Studies via the SWAYAM platform. The courses include Understanding the Arctic: Climate and Environmental Protection and Polar Science, Arctic Governance, Policy, and Law. These courses are now available for registration on the SWAYAM Platform for the July 2024 semester at the official website, swayam.gov.in.
The MOOCs will commence on July 18, 2024. According to an official announcement from UGC, the Commission has introduced a Polar Science, Arctic Governance, Policy, and Law course. This is a 15-week election-related course. The course will begin on July 18 and go until October 31. The enrollment procedure will end on August 31. The course’s exam will take place on December 15.
Similarly, the ‘Understanding the Arctic – Climate and the Need for Environmental Protection’ course will be a 15-week elective that begins on July 18 and ends on October 31. The enrollment period will end on August 31, and the exam date is July December 14. According to an official announcement, the UGC Subject Matter Expert Committee chose courses that correspond to the six pillars of India’s Arctic Policy.
