Mumbai: upGrad has named Amit Mehta as its new Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO), with his role starting on October 8, 2024. Mehta joined upGrad following a protracted employment with Hindustan Unilever Limited (HUL), where he served in several senior HR roles.
At upGrad, Mehta will be responsible for shaping the company’s global HR strategy, focusing on talent development and organizational growth. His previous experience includes driving leadership development and people analytics at HUL, particularly in South Asia. He also played a key role in crafting HR strategies for Unilever’s operations across India, Sri Lanka, and Europe.
Ronnie Screwvala, Co-founder and Chairperson of upGrad, said that Mehta’s appointment is a strategic move to help the company grow while fostering a collaborative work environment. Mehta, who holds an MBA from XLRI Jamshedpur and a B.Tech from VJTI Mumbai, expressed excitement about joining upGrad, citing the increasing demand for skilling and learning programs.
With Mehta on board, upGrad aims to continue strengthening its position in the learning and workforce development space while focusing on building a strong, people-centered culture.
