Bengaluru: Rubrik has introduced a cyber resilience solution aimed at addressing security risks in Microsoft Azure Blob Storage, widely used for storing unstructured data. The solution focuses on enhancing visibility, data protection, and recovery for organizations leveraging Azure’s cloud platform.
Azure Blob Storage is critical for managing workloads such as AI training, data lakes, and compliance records. However, the growing reliance on cloud-based infrastructure has exposed significant gaps in data security, particularly for sensitive information. Rubrik’s solution aims to address these vulnerabilities by integrating autonomous data discovery, classification, and contextualization directly within Azure environments.
The collaboration between Rubrik and Microsoft enables businesses to proactively monitor sensitive data for risks, assess security posture, and receive early warnings about potential threats. This approach is designed to help organizations mitigate cyber risks without disrupting operations.
Abhilash Purushothaman, Vice President and General Manager of Rubrik (Asia), noted that the new solution would particularly benefit sectors like healthcare, financial services, and the public sector, which often deal with sensitive data.
To optimize costs, Rubrik’s solution also identifies and eliminates redundant data stored in Azure Blob Storage. Additionally, it supports backup storage in lower-cost Azure tiers, while enabling rapid recovery of data, including object-level and container-level restoration options.
Microsoft Azure Storage General Manager Aung Oo emphasized the need for improved cloud data security as data generated by generative AI and large language models increases. This joint initiative, he stated, is aimed at addressing the growing challenges in safeguarding cloud repositories.
By addressing both security gaps and cost management, the partnership between Rubrik and Microsoft aims to offer enterprises a more resilient approach to managing their Azure Blob Storage environments. This move comes at a time when organizations are navigating increasingly complex cyber threats and heightened data management demands.
