New Delhi: Chandra Shekhar Tiwari has officially taken charge as Director (Technical) of Central Coalfields Limited (CCL), a key subsidiary of Coal India Limited (CIL). His appointment is expected to bolster the company’s technical leadership and enhance operational efficiency.
With over three decades of experience in the coal industry, Tiwari began his career in 1989 and has since held significant positions at both Central Coalfields Limited (CCL) and Northern Coalfields Limited (NCL). His expertise spans mining operations, safety management, and technical advancements in coal production.
He is an accomplished mining professional, holding a B.Tech in Mining Engineering from the Indian School of Mines (ISM), Dhanbad, and an MBA in Marketing Management from Birla Institute of Technology, Mesra.
Additionally, Tiwari possesses a First-Class Mine Manager’s Certificate from the Directorate General of Mines Safety (DGMS), Dhanbad.
Tiwari’s appointment to the role was recommended by the Public Enterprises Selection Board (PESB) following a selection meeting in November 2024. His leadership is expected to play a crucial role in driving CCL’s operational strategies and technological advancements.
Founded in 1956, Central Coalfields Limited has been a Category-I Mini Ratna company since October 2007. Headquartered at Darbhanga House, Ranchi, Jharkhand, CCL is responsible for managing nationalized coal mines under the Coal Mines Authority, Central division.
Tiwari’s appointment marks a strategic move for CCL, aligning with its long-term vision to enhance productivity and safety in coal mining operations.
