Kohima: Under the Pradhan Mantri Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana, Nagaland has launched the Nagaland Solar Mission to accelerate rooftop solar energy adoption.
Under the Nagaland Solar Mission, the state government will introduce an additional subsidy of up to Rs 50,000 for solar installations up to three kW. This is expected to complement the central government’s solar initiative.
It should be noted that the solar mission aligns with the Central Government’s target of installing one crore rooftop solar systems nationwide by 2026-27.
The combined subsidy would significantly reduce installation costs for households and enable affordable access to solar energy. The households could also benefit from reduced electricity bills by supplying excess solar power to the grid.
The state has already received 247 applications online for the scheme. A total of 55 national and state vendors have announced ei facilitate smooth installations.
The additional state subsidy would make rooftop solar installations more accessible and encourage more public participation in Nagaland’s green energy revolution.
This marks a significant step towards a greener and more sustainable future for Nagaland. It could alleviate the state’s chronic power shortages and drive socio-economic growth.
