Hyderabad: The Telangana government has appointed senior IAS Sandeep Kumar Sultania (1998 batch) as the new Principal Secretary of the Finance Department. The decision comes following the elevation of IAS K. Ramakrishna Rao to the post of Chief Secretary of Telangana two weeks ago.
Sultania, currently serving as the principal secretary of the sports department, brings vast administrative experience to the role, spanning several departments. Hailing from Bihar, he is a chartered accountant and holds a degree in accountancy. During his career, he has held several important roles, including Principal Secretary of Rural Development & Panchayati Raj, Secretary to the Chief Minister, and senior positions in finance, transport, cooperatives, and tourism.
Sultania’s tenure has been marked by impactful contributions in rural development, urban governance, and land revenue management. With his strong background in finance and governance, Sultania is expected to bring strategic focus and fiscal discipline to the Finance Department.
The Finance Department plays a crucial role in budget planning, public expenditure, and economic policy formulation, making this appointment significant for Telangana’s administrative and financial trajectory.
