Kolkata: The West Bengal School Education Department plans to leverage AI in smart classrooms to impart digital learning to students.
This will help improve the quality of education as well as keep track of the progress made by each student.
Initially, 10 schools have been identified for a pilot project to run clicker-based AI-driven smart learning apps in the classrooms.
These 10 schools include Howrah Deshbandhu Girls’ School, Ballygunge Government High School, Hindu School, Hare School, Bethune Collegiate School, Jadavpur Vidyapeeth, Jodhpur Park Boys & Girls Schools, Narendrapur Ramakrishna Mission and Bhabatarini Mondal English Medium Integrated School.
This AI-based app will be behind this learning app. From roll calls in the classroom, teaching students each chapter, to class tests, this app can perform all the functions.
Each student will have a special remote called a clicker. They can easily answer different questions using this clicker. A touch screen monitor is set up in each classroom.
The AI can analyse for teachers which students are answering faster and who are lagging. Teachers can decide which students need special attention.
It can impart education in a modern war and can assess the students at the same time. AI will also set the question papers for assessment tests.
Vinod Kumar, Education Secretary, Govt of West Bengal, Shubhra Chakraborty, Project Director and Debasmita Chatterjee, State Secondary School Council Coordinator, have already visited Howrah Deshbandhu Girls’ School to oversee the situation. They were joined by Howrah DM P Deepapriya.
