Kolkata: The West Bengal cabinet has approved the second phase of the JSW Energy power project.
JSW Energy would invest in another 1600 MW supercritical power plant at Salboni. This would take JSW’s total capacity to 3200 MW.
This was done to meet the growing demands for electricity in Bengal.
With this, JSW’s total investment in the power sector in Bengal is set to rise to Rs 40,000 crore. This includes an incremental investment of Rs 24,000 crore.
This approval was executed under a Public-Private-Partnership model. The tariff bid for the project was Rs 5.80 per unit.
