New Delhi: Airtel has enhanced its network coverage across Jammu, Kashmir, and Leh Ladakh by deploying additional spectrum. This move is expected to boost voice and data connectivity in both urban and rural areas of the region.
The company added 5MHz on the 2100 band and 3.8MHz on the 900 band, increasing network capacity to support improved 4G and 5G services. Airtel stated that the deployment, completed in July 2024, aims to provide faster data speeds and better indoor coverage for residents in Jammu, Srinagar, and Leh Ladakh. The expansion is also set to extend connectivity along highways, rail routes, and rural areas.
Adarsh Verma, COO of Airtel Jammu and Kashmir, noted that the additional spectrum will enable more reliable call connectivity and data performance for customers across the region. He highlighted Airtel’s ongoing investment in network improvements as part of the company’s commitment to meet the growing demand for connectivity.
Airtel secured 97MHz of spectrum in a recent auction, positioning the company to expand its services further. The latest deployment reflects Airtel’s focus on strengthening its network footprint amid rising data consumption in the region.
