Jaipur: In a significant administrative move, the Rajasthan government has appointed IPS Ravi Prakash Meharda (1990 batch) as the Director General of Police (DGP) of the state. Meharda currently serves as the Director General of the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB).
This appointment follows the voluntary retirement of acting DGP Utkal Ranjan Sahu, a 1988-batch IPS officer, who has been named the new Chairman of the Rajasthan Public Service Commission (RPSC).
Meharda is a seasoned police officer known for his integrity, intellect, and administrative acumen. Throughout his career, he has held several key posts, including Inspector General (IG) of Kota and Deputy Inspector General (DIG) in the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF). A native of Jaipur, Meharda holds academic degrees in Economics, an MPhil in Social Science, an MBA, and is noted to be pursuing a Ph.D., showcasing a rare blend of academic and professional excellence.Â
His current role as DG, ACB, has placed him at the forefront of Rajasthan’s anti-corruption drive. While he now steps into the DGP position, his tenure is expected to be brief, as Meharda is scheduled to retire on June 30, 2025. A full-time appointment to the DGP post is likely to follow the established UPSC selection process in the coming months.
