New Delhi: The All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Delhi, has signed a letter of intent (LoI) with Germany’s TU Dresden to collaborate on reducing costs in robotic surgery and developing AI tools in surgical oncology and liquid biopsy.
The agreement was signed by Professor Ursula Staudinger, head of TU Dresden, and Dr. M. Srinivas, Director of AIIMS Delhi. The partnership will focus on translational research, clinical use of digital technologies, and support for joint startup incubation.
Dr. Ray from AIIMS said the collaboration will target three main areas: robotic oncology surgeries, the use of AI in surgical oncology, and liquid biopsy. Liquid biopsy is a non-invasive test that examines fluids like blood to detect cancer or other diseases early. He also said that the project will receive funding to create affordable liquid biopsy solutions, making advanced cancer diagnostics more accessible.
The partnership is expected to boost innovation, cut technology costs, and help integrate modern tools into routine cancer care in India.
