Itanagar: Arunachal Pradesh Space Application Center (APSAC) has developed a drone port on the rooftop of the Tomo Riba Institute of Health & Medical Sciences in Naharlagun.
Inaugurated on July 1, this facility can significantly improve emergency medical deliveries in the state. This initiative is part of APSAC’s mission to establish a network of drone facilities across the state.Â
The ports will host and operate various types of drones. This includes Vertical Take-Off and Landing (VTOL) and Short Take-Off and Landing (STOL) aircraft. In addition, each facility will have essential infrastructure to store and maintain the drones. These drones could ensure the timely delivery of critical medical supplies, antivenoms, and human organs to remote areas of the state.
All this is part of a broader vision to expand drone infrastructure across the state. These will be under the ‘Medicine from the Sky’ program that aims to bridge the last-mile connectivity gap in healthcare.
