New Delhi: Delhi Technological University (DTU) has announced a series of new initiatives aimed at strengthening research, digital education, and industry collaboration, as part of its ongoing efforts to align with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.
At a press briefing, DTU Vice-Chancellor Prateek Sharma said the university will establish a Research Park at its Narela campus to promote research and development in collaboration with industry partners. The park is expected to serve as a platform for applied research, innovation, and entrepreneurship, bringing academia and industry closer.
To promote digital inclusion, DTU will also launch a computer literacy programme in five villages, targeting communities that have limited access to digital education. This outreach is part of the university’s broader aim to make education more accessible, especially for those who face barriers to higher learning.
In line with this objective, the university is expanding its online education offerings. The online system will provide certificate courses ranging from one week to several months, designed for individuals who may not have access to traditional university education.
DTU has also introduced three new BTech programmes focused on semiconductors, artificial intelligence, and data analytics fields identified as national priorities under NEP 2020. Additionally, the university has established an Interdisciplinary Department of Geospatial Science and Technology to meet the growing demand for expertise in this area.
To strengthen its global academic connections, DTU has signed memorandums of understanding (MoUs) with the University of Houston in the United States for student exchange programmes and with the South Asian University to enhance regional academic cooperation.
