Kolkata: The contact tracing of all 190 suspected Nipah virus-affected people in West Bengal has turned out to be negative.
ICMR – NICED tested the samples of close contacts. But no virus was detected in any of the 190 samples tested in the mobile BSL-3 lab sent by NIV Pune.
Meanwhile, the condition of the 25-year-old male nurse, one of the two confirmed cases, continued to improve.
The patient is longer on oxygen support and is consuming food orally.
The condition of the 25-year-old female nurse continued to be critical despite clinical and biomedical parameters showing gradual improvement.
Despite no signs of the outbreak spreading, the West Bengal Health Department remains on high alert to ensure the outbreak remains restricted to only two cases.
