Saroj International University has adopted a Digital-First University framework to modernise teaching, learning, and governance. Dr Rajiv Mishra, VC, Saroj International University, speaks exclusively to APAC Media about how their academic roadmap is fully aligned with NEP 2020 and integrated with the Academic Bank of Credits.
What are the salient digital initiatives undertaken at Saroj International University?
Saroj International University has adopted a Digital-First University framework to modernise teaching, learning, and governance. We have implemented an integrated University ERP, a robust Learning Management System, AI-enabled student performance analytics, smart classrooms, virtual laboratories, and a comprehensive digital library. These initiatives ensure seamless academic delivery, transparency, and enhanced student engagement.
How are different stakeholders, students, faculty, and administrators adopting these digital measures?
Digital adoption has been holistic. Students are trained in LMS-based learning, online assessments, research tools, and AI-supported academic resources. Faculty members use digital pedagogy tools, analytics dashboards, and blended learning methodologies. Administrative teams operate through paperless workflows and data-driven decision systems. Regular orientation and refresher programs ensure smooth and sustained adoption across the ecosystem.
How are teachers being retrained and curricula revised to make education more industry-relevant?
Faculty retraining and curriculum modernisation are continuous priorities. We conduct mandatory Faculty Development Programs in collaboration with industry and global EdTech platforms. Curricula are co-designed with industry partners and include live projects, case studies, and experiential learning. Faculty members are encouraged to undertake industry immersion programs, and many of our degrees now include embedded professional certifications.
What academic roadmap has the University designed to comply with NEP 2020 provisions?
Our academic roadmap is fully aligned with NEP 2020. We offer multidisciplinary programs with flexible structures, multiple entry and exit options, and full integration with the Academic Bank of Credits (ABC). Skill-based education, experiential learning, research orientation, and the integration of Indian Knowledge Systems alongside global perspectives are central to our approach.
What specific measures have been undertaken to modernise the assessment system?
We have shifted from rote-based examinations to competency-based and outcome-oriented assessments. Continuous and formative evaluation, project-based assessments, open-book exams, rubric-driven evaluation, and AI-assisted online assessment tools are now integral parts of our academic framework. This ensures fair, transparent, and holistic evaluation of student learning.
What will be your key focus areas in the coming quarters?
Our immediate focus will be on strengthening industry partnerships, establishing Centres of Excellence in emerging areas such as AI, robotics, health sciences, and sustainability, and enhancing research and innovation output. We are also prioritising international collaborations, faculty leadership development, and significantly improving student employability through internships, skill programs and global exposure.
