Bengaluru: Seven prominent Indian organizations, including AI4 Bharat (IIT Madras), Infosys, and Wadhwani AI, have joined the AI Alliance, expanding the global initiative’s membership. This inclusion highlights India’s increasing role in shaping AI innovation and responsible development.
The new members come from a diverse set of industries, including agriculture, technology, and AI research, reflecting India’s broad approach to AI. Along with IIT Jodhpur, KissanAI, People+AI, and Sarvam AI, these organizations will contribute to collaborative AI efforts, particularly in ethical and technical challenges.
India’s AI landscape has seen rapid growth, driven by initiatives like the IndiaAI mission, which aims to democratize access to AI tools and resources. The open-source approach supported by the Indian government aligns with the AI Alliance’s mission to promote safe, transparent, and open AI innovation.
Dr. Amith Singhee, Director of IBM Research India, emphasized the potential for Indian organizations to address AI’s unique challenges through collaboration. Meta’s Shivnath Thukral noted that India’s inclusion strengthens the global AI landscape and encourages cross-border cooperation in AI research.
This expansion underscores India’s commitment to responsible AI development and positions the country as a key player in the global AI ecosystem.
