New Delhi: Coventry University has opened an India Hub in New Delhi to strengthen partnerships and research collaborations between the UK and India. The hub, strategically located opposite the British Council India, aims to enhance the university’s outreach in admissions, recruitment, and institutional partnerships across the region.
The launch event saw participation from senior Coventry University officials, including Vice-Chancellor and Group CEO Professor John Latham CBE, as well as representatives from Indian and UK government bodies. The event, held at the British Council, emphasized the growing importance of bilateral academic and research ties.
According to Professor Latham, the India Hub will play a crucial role in fostering collaborations that align with both countries’ priorities. The facility employs around 70 staff and seeks to build connections with Indian academia, industry, and government while facilitating joint initiatives in sectors like aviation and healthcare.
Leena Kukreja, Regional Managing Director of Coventry University’s India Hub, highlighted the hub’s role in advancing research and partnerships. She stated, “This hub reflects our commitment to developing meaningful collaborations that can drive impactful outcomes in education and research.”
Coventry University already collaborates with several Indian institutions, including IIT Ropar, Vellore Institute of Technology, MOHAN Foundation, and GITAM University. Potential projects in emerging sectors are under discussion.
The hub’s interior design incorporates elements of Indian culture while adhering to Coventry University’s branding. It is part of the university’s broader strategy to establish global hubs, with existing facilities in Brussels, Africa, China, and Singapore.
Experts, including Richard McCallum of the UK India Business Council, stressed the significance of such initiatives in fostering academic and research connections. “As UK-India ties deepen, platforms like the India Hub will be pivotal for advancing collaboration across sectors,” he noted.
This development underscores the role of universities as facilitators of international collaboration and research, particularly in the evolving landscape of global education.
