Kolkata: The West Bengal Health Department is launching the Duare X-Ray program, with portable X-Ray machines being distributed under the National Tuberculosis Elimination Program.
While this X-Ray machine will be distributed in all districts in phases, it is being initially started in the two health districts in the remote areas of South 24 Parganas.
As part of this, 14 portable X-Ray machines fitted with AI technology have been sent to the primary health centres (PHCs).
The South 24 Parganas health district will receive eight such portable X-Ray machines, while the Diamond Harbour health district will get another six.
These can be carried to the health camps too, being organised in the remote island areas of South 24 Parganas.
Once charged, these 14 X-Ray machines can conduct at least 200 X-Rays.
Though the X-rays were meant primarily for tuberculosis patients, those with other complications coming to the PHCs or health camps will also be able to avail themselves.
The main aim is to help remote villagers not to travel far and wide for X-rays. Doctors in both PHCs and camps can conduct X-rays of relevant areas and advise their patients.
