Blurb: Rising aviation fuel prices prompt IndiGo to introduce additional charges on domestic and international flight tickets.
New Delhi: IndiGo has announced a fuel surcharge on air tickets starting March 14, with passengers expected to pay up to ₹2,300 extra depending on the distance of the flight. The airline said the decision comes in response to rising aviation turbine fuel (ATF) prices, which significantly impact operating costs.
Fuel charge on bookings

The newly introduced IndiGo fuel surcharge will be applicable on both domestic and international bookings. The exact amount will vary based on the route distance, and the revised charge will be reflected in the final ticket fare at the time of booking.
Airlines often revise fares or introduce temporary surcharges when fuel prices increase sharply, as fuel remains one of the largest expenses for aviation companies. Industry experts say such measures help carriers manage operational costs while continuing flight services across their network.
Passengers booking IndiGo flight tickets from March 14 onwards will see the additional surcharge included in their ticket price. The airline has indicated that the surcharge may be reviewed depending on future trends in fuel prices.
