New Delhi: The National Accreditation Board for Hospitals and Healthcare Providers (NABH), a constituent body of the Quality Council of India (QCI), has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Research Society for the Study of Diabetes in India (RSSDI) to enhance the quality and consistency of diabetes care across the country. This collaboration aims to integrate robust clinical and digital health standards to address the growing diabetes burden in India.
RSSDI, India’s largest professional body for diabetes care providers with over 12,000 members, will utilize its expertise in developing best practice clinical guidelines, while NABH will drive national quality certification and accreditation programs. Together, they will focus on creating accredited diabetes clinics that adhere to high standards of treatment, research, and education. These clinics will combine advanced technology with personalized care, ensuring patients meet their treatment goals effectively.
Under the MoU, NABH and RSSDI will improve NABH’s Accreditation Standards for Allopathic Clinics to meet the specific needs of diabetes care. They will also work on establishing digital health standards for Clinic Management Systems (CMS) to improve diabetes management. RSSDI will promote NABH’s certification programs among its members, driving standardization in diabetes care and reducing complications and morbidity.
The partnership aligns with the vision of Jaxay Shah, Chairperson of QCI, to take quality healthcare to grassroots levels. Shri Rizwan Koita, Chairperson of NABH, emphasized the importance of addressing diabetes, which impacts over 250 million Indians. He highlighted the role of standardized care and evidence-based guidelines in improving outcomes and the potential of digital health standards to revolutionize diabetes care.
This collaboration underscores NABH’s commitment to developing specialized care standards and reflects its vision of enhancing healthcare quality nationwide. By combining NABH’s accreditation expertise with RSSDI’s clinical leadership, the alliance is set to transform diabetes care across India.
