Ahmedabad: Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) has deployed a Rs 17 crore advanced Bandicoot Mobility+ robotic sewer cleaning systems from Genrobotics.
As part of the project, 7 robotic units will deploy across 7 zones in Ahmedabad, along with a 5 year operations and maintenance (O&M) contract.
The Bandicoot Mobility+ vehicle-mounted robotic sewer cleaning system integrates powerful robotic cleaning capabilities with an onboard waste management system.
This enables a complete mechanized workflow, from extracting sludge and debris inside manholes to transferring waste into an integrated collection unit.
Subsequently, it is transported to treatment facilities which eliminates all need for human contact with hazardous waste at any stage of the process.
Conventional sewer cleaning machines cannot operate in Ahmedabad’s narrow urban spaces and gullies.
This capability is particularly critical in dense cities where accessibility constraints have always led to manual interventions and casualties.
This initiative streamlines sewer maintenance operations and at the same time establishes a new benchmark for safety and efficiency in AMC urban infrastructure.
Genrobotics has deployed its robotic systems across other cities in Gujarat including Rajkot, and in Maharashtra and 23 other states. It has supported municipal bodies in managing complex sewer networks and enabling safe cleaning in hard-to-reach areas.
