New Delhi: The University Grants Commission (UGC) and the Ministry of Education have launched a major initiative to increase the number of educational materials available in Indian languages. The project is dubbed ASMITA, which stands for Augmenting Study Materials in Indian Languages through Translation and Academic Writing.
It plans to produce 22,000 volumes in the ensuing five years. Sanjay Murthy, the Secretary of Higher Education, was present at the launch and discussed the project’s possible influence on the educational environment. The UGC and the ministry’s Bharatiya Bhasha Samiti committee have collaborated for the project.
This initiative’s main goal is to advance and further incorporate Indian languages into the educational system, which will improve learning and increase inclusivity. This project is in line with the larger plan to improve the caliber and usability of educational resources available in different Indian languages.
