Bhopal: Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation Amit Shah has inaugurated the Pradhan Mantri Colleges of Excellence. The colleges, built at a cost of Rs 486 crore, will serve all 55 districts of Madhya Pradesh.
Shah emphasized that strong educational foundations are essential for India’s development by 2047. He highlighted Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s foresight in introducing the New Education Policy (NEP) in 2020, designed to meet the educational needs of the next 25 years. The NEP aims for the 360-degree development of youth, integrating academic and life skills, and fostering ‘out of the box’ thinking.
The new policy includes practical, skill development, and vocational training to prepare students for the demands of the internet, artificial intelligence, and data analytics era. The Pradhan Mantri Colleges of Excellence offer multi-disciplinary studies, allowing students to pursue interests in subjects like biotechnology, computer science, culture, and arts. Courses such as B.Ed and B.Sc Agriculture have also been introduced, linking education with self-employment opportunities.
