New Delhi: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has issued updated guidelines for schools on the use of textbooks published by the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT). These guidelines aim to ensure consistency in educational resources and teaching standards across all CBSE-affiliated schools.
The new guidelines include the following key points:
- – Preferred Resource: NCERT books are recommended as the primary educational resource for all grades in CBSE-affiliated schools.
- – Flexibility: Schools are not mandated to use only NCERT textbooks but are strongly encouraged to align their curriculum with NCERT content.
- – Availability: Schools must ensure easy access to NCERT books for all students and are encouraged to utilize digital versions available on the NCERT website and ePathshala app.
- – Supplementary Materials: Any supplementary materials used alongside NCERT books should align with the prescribed syllabus to avoid deviations from the core curriculum.
- – Cost Consideration: Schools should avoid recommending non-NCERT books that could impose additional financial burdens on students.
The CBSE has also clarified that it will monitor the implementation of these guidelines to ensure compliance. Schools found in violation may face action as part of the board’s efforts to create a balanced and accessible educational environment.
