New Delhi: The National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) has issued a warning about its educational materials being used without permission by some “unscrupulous publishers.” In a recently released public notice, NCERT stressed the importance of respecting copyright laws and following its guidelines.
The organisation took to X and wrote, “Advisory on Copyrights Infringement in use of Educational Materials designed and developed by NCERT is herewith released as public notice. Stakeholders are requested to honour the Copyrights Advisory issued by NCERT in letter and spirit.”
NCERT, which creates and distributes textbooks for all school levels, zeroed in on its role as the official source of educational materials and expressed concern about unauthorised publishers printing NCERT textbooks without permission.
NCERT warned that individuals or entities who are found publishing its content for profit without permission will be legally pursued under the Copyright Act of 1957. The council also advised against buying such unauthorised textbooks or workbooks, as they may be inaccurate and not align with the principles of the National Curriculum Framework 2023.
Anyone encountering pirated NCERT materials has been requested to report them to NCERT at pd.ncert@nic.in. Additionally, publishers wishing to use the NCERT name must send a proposal to the Publication Division NCERT via mail or email at secy.ncert@nic.in.
