New Delhi: The Centre has notified the Supreme Court that it has decided to revoke the scorecards of 1,563 NEET-UG 2024 applicants who received grace marks. Allegations of using unfair methods during the assessment procedure prompted this decision.
The Centre informed the court that these 1,563 students would have the opportunity to retake the exam. This action is intended to guarantee the integrity and fairness of the examination procedure.
The Centre also detailed the action plan to resolve the issue quoting, “A committee meeting was held on June 10, 11, and 12 to investigate the allegations. Based on the committee’s recommendations, the scorecards of the affected candidates will be cancelled, and a re-examination will be held for these students”.
Meanwhile, Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan denied the allegations of a paper leak in the NEET-UG exam, quoting there is no evidence. “There is no evidence of a paper leak in NEET-UG. The allegations of corruption in NTA are unfounded as it is a very credible body,” Pradhan was quoted as saying. “The Supreme Court is hearing the matter and we will abide by its decision. We will ensure no student is at a disadvantage,” he said.
The NEET UG 2024 results sparked significant controversy and conjecture, with claims of inflated grades and other violations. Following the publication of the National Eligibility Cum Entrance Test (NEET-UG) results on June 4, 67 students received a perfect score of 720/720 marks, sharing the All-India Rank (AIR) 1. Several medical students and their parents raised concerns about malfunctions, claimed malpractice, confusing grace mark implementation, and, most critically, an alleged paper leak.
