Nashik: The Maharashtra government has given administrative approval to the proposal of Rs 98.12 lakh for purchasing new computer equipment for the Nashik district and sessions court and the newly formed courts at the taluka level.
Meanwhile, administrative approval has also been granted for the proposal of purchasing computer equipment to the tune of Rs 33.43 lakh for the newly-set up civil courts at Yeola, Igatpuri and Sinnar.
Nashik Bar Association President Nitin Thakre said the equipment would be helpful as computerized filing of documents saves time.
The courts are also able to issue summons faster. The quick processing of documents also helps in faster disposal of cases in various courts.
Government resolutions to this effect were published on May 9.
Computerisation is taking place in courts across the district under the e-Court project, which aims to digitize the judiciary and deliver online services to stakeholders.
Computer articles like all-in-one PCs, printer duplex laser networks, UPS, all-in-one non-touch computers, multi-function printers, etc., will be purchased for these courts.
Lawyers said computerization will lead to ease of work and getting information about various things.
The e-Court project is funded by the Department of Justice, Ministry of Law and Justice, Government of India for the district courts in the country.
